Leavenworth Marathon
The Leavenworth Marathon is a marathon and half marathon organized by TedDriven in Leavenworth, Washington. The half marathon uses Enchantment Park for its start and finish and follows Front Street through the Bavarian Village into Riverfront Park before joining the same route used by the marathon.
The marathon course begins near the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area and includes a nine mile passage through Icicle Canyon. Runners follow East Leavenworth Road north in a closed lane to the Wenatchee River Bridge, enter the Bavarian Village, run wooded riverfront parks and trails, use Icicle Road and Icicle River trails, then rejoin East Leavenworth Road for a second lap that finishes at the Enchantment Park Event Center. Surfaces include paved roads, dirt and gravel sections, paths and trails. The route is surrounded by mountains and may feature local wildlife and salmon in the rivers.
The marathon has a six hour completion limit and the half marathon course is open for four hours; walkers are permitted in the half marathon category. The event is USATF sanctioned and holds a Boston Qualifier recertification. Aid stations are placed every 2 to 3 miles offering water and Skratch sports drink, with energy gels available at specified points. A first aid tent and EMT supported ambulance will be on site. No pets, strollers, or tethered equipment are allowed. Finishers receive a custom medal and awards must be picked up on race day.
