Leavenworth Marathon
The Leavenworth Marathon takes place in the Bavarian village of Leavenworth, Washington. The event offers two distinct distances:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
The marathon course is a USATF sanctioned event and serves as a Boston Qualifier. It begins near the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area in Icicle Canyon. The route follows a fast, 9 mile stretch through the canyon before heading north on East Leavenworth Road. Participants cross the Wenatchee River Bridge into the village, navigating through wooded riverfront parks and trails. The course features a mix of paved roads, dirt paths, and trails. Runners complete two laps of certain sections before reaching the finish line at the Enchantment Park Event Center. Due to course restrictions, the marathon has a six hour time limit.
The half marathon starts directly at the TedDriven Event Center in Enchantment Park. The route passes through the heart of the Bavarian village on Front Street and enters Riverfront Park. It eventually joins the same path as the marathon to finish back at Enchantment Park. Walkers are permitted in this category, which has a four hour time limit.
Aid stations providing water and sports drink are positioned every 2-3 miles, with energy gels available at specific intervals. Participants receive a finisher’s medal and have access to post-race food, including fruit and cookies. The event is organized by TedDriven, which directs proceeds toward cancer research and local community causes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
