Mad Meadows is a trail running event on October 10, 2026, near Leavenworth, Washington. The start and finish are at Grouse Creek Group Campground on Chiwawa River Road. Distances offered:

  • 50K - 7000 ft elevation gain
  • 50M - 11,000 ft elevation gain

Course and terrain

The course runs on remote alpine ridgelines and through meadows and river valleys. Terrain includes smooth single track, steep climbs, technical sections, pumice slopes from a past Dakobed eruption, talus slopes, and winding descents on ridges such as Garland Ridge, Chikamin Ridge, and Alder Ridge. Notable features and viewpoints include the Mad River, Mad Meadows, views into the Entiat River Valley, and toward Clark Mountain and Dakobed (Glacier Peak). The 50K route reaches elevations over 6000 ft; the 50M route tops out over 7000 ft. Portions of the route use Chiwawa River Road and include long road sections and out-and-back connections between aid stations.

Aid stations, logistics, and rules

Multiple aid stations are located along each course; some stations are water-only and one is a hike-in station with limited items. Basalt and Chikamin aid stations offer hot food. The event is cupless; runners must carry refillable containers. Pacers are not allowed. Crew access is limited to specific aid stations. Drop bag and required-gear rules differ by distance, including mandatory rain/wind layer, water capacity, and having the course GPS loaded on a device.
