Mad Meadows 50
Mad Meadows 50 is a trail race organized by Evergreen Trail Runs near Leavenworth, Washington. The event offers two distances:
- 50M
- 50K
The course runs at high elevation. The 50K reaches elevations over 6000 ft and the 50M tops out over 7000 ft. The route provides views east into the Entiat River Valley and west toward Clark Mountain and Dakobed (Glacier Peak). Sections of the course pass through areas of larch trees that turn golden in October.
Terrain includes smooth single track, long technical sections, steep and rocky climbs, ridge running, and some punchy climbs. Much of the route follows or crosses the Mad River and begins on Chiwawa River Road. The 50M includes a long flat approach on Chiwawa River Road before a sustained climb out of the river valley toward Basalt Pass and Garland Ridge.
Both distances rejoin near Chikamin Aid Station and climb toward Chikamin Ridge, passing a north-facing talus slope with old-growth larch trees. The course continues through an old burn into meadows, then down the Mad River trail to Mad Meadows Aid Station. After Alder Ridge and Entiat Aid Station, the final approach follows about 4.5 miles of singletrack alongside Chiwawa River Road back to Grouse Creek Group Campground.
Registration closes on Fri, Oct 9 at 11:59PM PT. Entry fee ranges provided in the event offer listings. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
