Event Overview
The Pine Knoll Shores Turkey Trot is an annual community event held on Thanksgiving morning in Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina. This marks the 19th year of the gathering, which includes both running and walking options. The event is organized by the Town of Pine Knoll Shores Parks and Recreation Committee and proceeds rain or shine. While registration is free of charge, the event supports the Hope for the Warriors Angel Tree Project through voluntary donations.
Course Information
Participants can choose between two distinct routes:
- 5K (3.1 miles): A run or walk that passes through residential streets and the Crystal Coast Country Club golf course.
- 1.5 Miles: A stroll designed for dog walkers and those with strollers, traversing the "tree streets" of the town.
Due to the terrain and course regulations, dogs and baby strollers are strictly prohibited on the golf course section of the 5K route. Those wishing to use strollers for the full 5K distance are encouraged to complete two loops of the shorter stroll course instead.
Amenities and Logistics
The event begins at McNeill Park, which serves as the central hub for registration and the finish line. At the conclusion of the event, water, bananas, and treats are provided for all participants. Registered attendees are eligible for a random prize drawing featuring tickets to the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores and vouchers for local businesses. Event t-shirts are available for purchase during the registration period.
