Cape Carteret Turkey Trot
The Cape Carteret Turkey Trot is a community Thanksgiving morning costume fun run held in Cape Carteret, NC at 300 Taylor Notion Road. The event includes two non-timed distances and encourages participants to walk, run, or dress in costumes while supporting a local charity partner.

The course is described as flat and runs through the Star Hill area and the new Cape Carteret Trail. Route files are available on RunGo. The event is not timed. Water and aid stations will be provided along the course.
Registration opens on 2026-05-28 and closes on 2026-10-31; the listed registration fee is $40. The first 200 registered participants are guaranteed a Turkey Trot race shirt; if a requested size is unavailable, a turkey trot medal will be provided. Online registration is preferred; on-site registration may include increased fees and accepts cash, check, or credit card.
Packet pick-up is available during staffed hours the week of the event and on race morning. The start and finish area is at The GYM Cape Carteret Aquatic & Wellness, 300 Taylor Notion Road. Parking for participants and spectators is directed to White Oak Elementary (555 W B McLean Dr) or the library (230 Taylor Notion Rd).
Proceeds benefit Easter Seals PORT Health EMPOWER in Morehead City, NC. Awards include pumpkin pies for the first male and female across the 5K finish line, best dressed flock, and best dressed turkey. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
