Pickens County Meals on Wheels 5K Glow Run
Pickens County Meals on Wheels, a non-profit that delivers meals and safety checks to homebound seniors, organizes an eighth annual 5K glow run in Liberty, South Carolina. The event supports the organization’s fundraising and outreach efforts.
The course starts in front of the Pickens County Performing Arts Center on Hwy 93 and follows Commerce Street, Edgemont Avenue, Peachtree Street, Hillcrest, and the main street, including one lap around a track at a field. The route finishes at the second entrance to the McKissick Center parking lot on Edgemont Avenue. Directional arrows and course monitors will mark the course, and volunteers and police escorts will be present for on-course safety.
The event is a timed 5K open to runners and walkers. A Glow Attire Contest will be held with awards for first and second place. Race awards will be presented to the top three males and top three females in three age brackets: 15 and under, 16 to 29, and 30 and over. A post race snack will be provided and a selfie station with UV lighting will be available for glow photos.
Registration carries a fee of $25.00. The organizer notes reliance on fundraising and donations to continue daily meal deliveries and volunteer services. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
