Phoenix Striders Summer Series The Halloween Special
The event takes place at Langdon Nature Discovery Park and comprises a night-time trail run and a separate children's trail. The main trail is a 5k route made up of two laps of a 2.5k circuit that starts and finishes at the Discovery Centre. Participants must carry or wear a light source and will be given glow sticks to improve visibility on the course. The event supports Essex Wildlife Trust and Brighter Outcomes for Special People (BOSP).
Safety and course notes describe typical trail conditions with overhanging branches, tree roots, cobbles, stones, slippery mud, brambles and nettles. Marshals, a tailwalker and two first aiders with kits and AEDs will be on site. Arrow boards, flour arrows and marshal torches will mark the route. Runners should advise the run director of any medical conditions and remain within their capacity while running or walking.
Entry fees and age rules are stated:
- 5k trail for ages 12 years old and above.
- Little Monsters trail about 800m for children under 12 with an accompanying adult.
Other event rules and information: no pushchairs, no dogs on course, no headphones except low volume bone conduction; all participants must register and collect race numbers on the day; toilets are available at the Centre and some refreshments and gifts are sold there.
