Tarmac Twister Trail
Essex Trail Events stages the Tarmac Twister Trail on 14 October 2026. The event is a self navigation trail race of approximately 6 miles with a minimum entry age of 16. TRA permit 8722 applies. Entry is limited to 120 places.
Participants receive a written route description at the event and must navigate the course themselves; there are no markings or marshals. The course is on tarmac and other hard surfaces and is street lit, but a head torch or hand torch is required to read the route instructions. The event is not a mass start; competitors may run alone or in groups. Finishers receive a bespoke glow in the dark medal and light refreshments. Participants are timed and results will be posted on essextrailevents.com.
Race headquarters is at Springfield Cricket Club, Coronation Park, Timsons Lane, Chelmsford CM2 6AF. There is ample parking, and a fully licensed bar and toilet facilities are available. Entry fees are £12 for UKA affiliated athletes and £14 for unaffiliated athletes. Online entries close on 9 October 2026 or when the event is full.
