Tiptree 10 Mile
The Tiptree 10 is a chip-timed road race covering a distance of 10 miles. The course takes place on quiet rural roads through the Essex countryside, starting and finishing near Leisure World Tiptree in Colchester. The event is operated under UKA Rules (licence #30782) and holds a SEAA Measured Course Certificate.
The route consists of an undulating terrain that includes a section of scenic countryside. While the course is primarily flat-ish, there is a notable incline located at approximately the 8-mile mark before the final stretch. Enthusiastic marshals from the Tiptree Road Runners are stationed throughout the course to provide support and direction.
Participants can expect several amenities and logistical features:
- On-site parking at the venue.
- Number collection facilities.
- Regular water stations located along the route.
- Pace runners for specific time targets, such as 1:15 and 1:20.
- Finish line commentary and a race clock.
- Refreshments, including tea and cakes, available after the race.
The event is open to runners aged 17 and over on the day of the race. It serves as a venue for the Essex Championship. Profits from the race are donated by the organizing club to various local and national charities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
