Phoenix Running Cambridgeshire - Astro Dash
The Astro Dash is a timed running event held at Thorpe Meadows in Peterborough. The course is situated within a park featuring a rowing lake and various sculptures. Participants navigate a route that runs alongside the River Nene and passes through a wooded trail section.
This event uses a lap-based format where runners complete as many or as few laps as they choose within a 6 hour time limit. The course consists of a 5.3 km (3.28 mile) loop. The terrain is a mix of tarmac paths, grass, and woodland trails. The route is primarily flat with approximately 8 meters of elevation per lap, including a short, steep incline at the 3.7 km (2.3 mile) mark.
Participants do not need to choose their distance in advance. The format allows runners to decide their final distance on the day based on the number of laps completed. Everyone who completes at least one lap receives a bespoke finishers' medal. The event offers a flexible start window of one hour, allowing runners to begin their session at any point within that timeframe.
The available distances based on lap completions include:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
- Ultra Marathon
The event is open to all abilities with no specific qualification requirements. Registration takes place on-site prior to the start window. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
