INFERNO – Edale’s Ring of Hell
INFERNO – Edale’s Ring of Hell is a set of trail races held on 22 August 2026 in Edale, Peak District, with the event base at Edale Village Hall, S33 7ZA. Routes start in Edale, about a five minute walk from the train station.
The courses move quickly onto open fell and ascent to Ringing Roger, then follow sheep tracks, muddy paths and rocky descents. One section includes a climb by a waterfall noted for its clear water. The races are self-navigated; GPX files and a marked map are available to download. Organisers run social recces of each course during the year.
Distances and ascent:
- Ultra - 41 miles, 10,000 ft ascent
- Marathon - 26.9 miles, 6,400 ft ascent
- Half - 15.5 miles, 4,000 ft ascent
Support and event services include checkpoints stocked with Mountain Fuel gels and a variety of food including vegan options, fizzy drinks, trackers for ultra and marathon competitors, experienced sweepers and a finisher medal for all finishers. The event makes donations to Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, the National Trust and Peak District National Park. Participants must carry compulsory kit; the kit list and further event information are available from the event organiser. The event does not provide plastic cups at checkpoints.
