Manchester - Phoenix Afterglow
This event is the third and final race in a 2026 Summer Series held at Hardy Farm and Chorlton Water Park alongside the River Mersey. It is a timed, lap-based event on an out-and-back course that measures 5.3 km (3.28 miles) per lap. The minimum distance is one lap (3.28 miles) and participants may complete as many laps as they can within a seven hour time limit. All finishers receive a bespoke finishers medal and the organisers donate £1 per participant to Carrington Animal Rescue.
Terrain is off-road riverside towpath with very little elevation change, creating a generally flat course. Facilities at Race HQ include toilets and changing rooms. Parking is available for 75 cars at Hardy Farm on a first come first served basis, with up to 100 additional spaces at Sale Water Park, about a 15 minute walk from the start. The organisers request that participants planning up to half marathon distance use the Sale Water Park car park.
An aid station is available throughout the event offering mainly vegetarian options, with many vegan and gluten free items. Examples include bananas, dates, sweets, crisps, cake and squash. Participants with severe or life threatening allergies should bring their own food because cross contamination cannot be guaranteed. Places are strictly limited.
