Phoenix Running - Hampshire Whingeathon
Phoenix Running Hampshire stages the Whingeathon along the Itchen Way in Winchester on 30 January 2027. The event uses an out and back course that crosses the Hockley Viaduct and has been professionally measured with a Road Permit.
This is a timed event where runners complete repeated laps of a 2.62 mile out and back route within a seven hour running window. The format allows participants to decide how many laps to run on the day.
- 2.62 mile lap out and back
- Five laps equals a half marathon
- Ten laps equals a marathon
- Eleven or more laps becomes an ultra
The event operates a flexible rock up and run start format, so runners may begin at different times on the day. An aid station on course supplies a range of sweet and savoury items, including a signature serving of potatoes and vegan options. All finishers receive a bespoke finisher's medal or memento.
The event base is Garnier Road Car Park in Winchester with additional parking at St. Catherine's Park and Ride about a three minute walk away. Entry fees are listed as £37.95 for affiliated runners and £39.95 for unaffiliated runners. UK Athletics rules mean distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under.
