About the race
The Philadelphia International Airport Runway 5K is an annual event held at Atlantic Aviation PHL, 8375 Enterprise Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. The 2026 edition is the 9th annual and is listed as sold out. The course takes place on the active airport tarmac with commercial and general aviation aircraft operating on nearby runways.
While on the airfield, participants can view displays of fire apparatus, snow-removal equipment, and airline ground support equipment. A festival zone outside the tarmac offers family-focused activities including face painting, mascots, and a free Kids Dash with age brackets for 1 year, 2-3 years, and 4-5 years. A limited supply of super capes will be available for the Kids Dash.

Race logistics and rules include mandatory presentation of a valid, government-issued photo ID that matches the runner name and confirmation number to access the airfield, a chip-timed results system, and awards based on chip time for overall and age-group finishers. Categories include Top Male, Top Female, Top Non-Binary, and standard age groups from 12 & under through 61 & over. The event is rain or shine, non-refundable, and there is no race-day registration. Parking is free across the street. Pets and strollers are not allowed on the course; authorized service dogs with credentials are permitted.
