PFC JOSEPH P DWYER PTSD MEMORIAL 5K RUN
This event is a memorial 5K run and associated walk presented by Rocky Point VFW Post 6249 at Rocky Point High School in Rocky Point, NY. The event supports the Joseph Dwyer Program: a confidential, one-on-one peer-to-peer network for veterans dealing with PTSD and traumatic brain injury. The program was launched as a pilot partnership in 2012 and focuses on peer-to-peer support for veteran reintegration.

The course runs through pine barrens and includes trails, hills, and sections on the school track. The route begins at Rocky Point High School and follows Rocky Point Road south toward the historical sign at about one mile, then turns right at a marked point and returns toward the school.
Event amenities include age-group medals for the 5K, awards for the top three men and women in the walk category, post-race refreshments, and t-shirts guaranteed to the first 300 registrants. Registration fees are listed as $30 for pre-registration by May 29 and $35 for day-of registration. Proceeds benefit the Joseph Dwyer Program PTSD Peer to Peer Network.
