Forgotten Forest 9-Hour Ultra
The Forgotten Forest 9-Hour Ultra is an endurance event held at Roosevelt Forest in Stratford, Connecticut. Participants navigate the forest trails for a set duration of nine hours, choosing to complete as many miles as they wish within that timeframe. The event is limited to 50 participants, providing a smaller field for those seeking a personal best or a specific distance goal, such as a 50 km distance.
The course consists of a well-marked loop measuring 2.2 miles. The terrain includes both single and double-track trails with typical New England characteristics, such as roots, rocks, and rolling hills. Each lap features approximately 131 feet of elevation gain.
Logistics and amenities at the event include:
- 2.2 mile loop format
- Single aid station located at the forest pavilion
- Hydration and food options provided for runners
- Porta potties located near the staging area
- On-site parking at 700 Peters Lane
Pacers are permitted to join runners after four hours of competition, provided they sign a waiver and obtain a wristband. The event allows for small tables, chairs, and canopies in the designated picnic area. Dogs are permitted as spectators but must remain on a leash at all times. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers based on the total mileage achieved by the end of the nine-hour period.
