Perranporth Triathlon
Perranporth Triathlon returns to Perranporth Beach, TR6 0EY in 2027 after a five year break. The event traces its history to 1987 and is staged in collaboration with Perranporth Surf Lifesaving Club. The town centre is closed for the event and the beach attracts up to 12,000 visitors in summer, providing spectator presence along the course.
The event offers two distance options and requires wetsuits, either shortie or full body.
- Little Shark Super Sprint: 400m swim, 19.0k bike, 3.1k run
- Olympic Shark: 1500m swim, 36.7k bike, 7.5k run
The bike course uses laps: Olympic Shark two loops, Little Shark one loop. Separate run routes are provided for the two distances. All finishers receive a medal and official results are published online within 24 hours.
Perranporth is part of the Cornish Tri Series. Age group standings use a points system with a maximum 100 points for top places. Series rules require athletes to complete a minimum of four qualifying events and to volunteer themselves or bring a volunteer to at least one event to be eligible for overall series awards. Age categories include Open (17-39), Vet (40-49), Super Vet (50-59), Vintage (60-69) and Super Vintage (70+).
