About the race
The Fairytale of Newquay is a timed, self-navigation coastal run on Saturday 12 December 2026 that finishes at Porth Beach, Newquay. The event offers multiple distances along the North Cornwall coast and includes festive checkpoints where dressing up is optional and encouraged. Canicross entries are welcome.
Distances
- Pisky (8 miles) out and back between Porth Beach and Mawgan Porth
- Long Half (15 miles) bus transfer to Harlyn Bay, one checkpoint
- Ultramarathon (30 miles) coastal route from Porth Beach with three checkpoints
All runners (except Pisky) receive an issued GPS tracker with a live link to the route and must present this at registration for a kit check. Checkpoints and a Pisky turnaround water point will be stocked with fluid and salt or sugar snacks. Cut off times apply for each distance.
Runners must carry essential safety kit including a fully charged mobile phone with charger or battery pack, issued GPS tracker, head torch, spare warm clothing in a waterproof bag, a hi vis top or reflective strips, small first aid kit, nutrition, compass or phone app, waterproof jacket, an appropriate survival bag (foil blanket is not acceptable), whistle, minimum 800 ml fluid, collapsible or reusable cup, next of kin details on paper in a waterproof bag, and cash for emergencies. Kit is per person and must not be shared. No kit, no race.
All finishers receive a Fairy Tale of Newquay medal and there are awards for top finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
