About the race
Perpetual Motion is a multi-format timed running event held on a certified 800 meter (0.5144 mile) paved loop on the shore of Lake Grapevine at Silver Lake Marina. Participants may run for set timed durations on a closed loop course; the event includes in-person and virtual options.

The course changes direction every four hours. Registration for in-person entries includes a discounted park entrance fee. Packet pickup occurs at the race location on the day before and on race day. Aid station service varies by time of day: daytime offerings cover a range of flavors and textures common to ultrarunning; nighttime offerings add hot soups, meals, and hot drinks. The on-course sports drink is Hammer Heed. There is space for personal aid stations, free camping near the course, and parking on the loop.
Participants receive long-sleeve shirts (size not guaranteed after November 16), unique participant medals, and additional swag items. Trophies are awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers in each in-person race. Coins are issued for 50+ miles and buckles for 100+ miles; buckles must be verified for virtual efforts. Pacer registration is available for 24-hour runners and adaptive teams; pacers must register and a runner may have only one pacer at a time. Registration opens in early April.
