Perfect PR Backyard by the Ode
Perfect PR Backyard by the Ode is a Last Runner Standing event held May 22, 2027, at Independence Oaks Park in Clarkston, MI (9501 Sashabaw Road). The event is organized by The Ode Races and follows the backyard ultra format.
The course is a closed park loop that circles Crooked Lake on a roomy cinder path, continues onto a paved River loop through shaded woods, and includes a 1000+ foot boardwalk through a waterfowl preserve. The start and finish are located near the Twin Chimneys area. Organizers describe the route as flat and suitable for repeated loops.
Permanent park bathrooms will be available, with expanded bathroom access, close-in parking, and a large roofed structure at the venue. Family friendly camping is available on-site. Wilderness Campground offers tent camping from Friday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon for a fee of $6 per person per night; participants running do not need to pay for nights they are actively running but should pay for one camp night to access camper shower facilities. One car per active racer may park at the start/finish; additional parking is available within about 500 yards.
Contestants must provide their own aid; pacers are not permitted. Crew are permitted and may leave and return. Each racer is allotted a chair or cooler space within 40 yards and may bring one sided canopy up to 10' x 10'. Water and Tailwind are provided. Racers and crew must supply their own food starting in 2025. No hiking poles or headphones are allowed on trails. Entry fees are listed from USD 66.23 to USD 131.28. Top finishers receive guaranteed entries or discounts for future Ode to Laz events, and all entrants receive an event beanie or tech hat.
