Event Overview

The Peoria Hippity Hop Half Marathon is an Easter-themed running event with multiple distances. It is the 11th edition of this annual tradition held at the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Arizona.

Distances

Participants can choose from several distances:

  • Half Marathon
  • 10K
  • 5K
  • Cottontail Dash, an untimed half-mile fun run with an egg hunt along the route

Course and Logistics

All races start and finish at the Peoria Sports Complex, using the open trails of the New River Trail System. The courses are on asphalt and concrete paths, meaning participants can return directly to their cars post-race. The courses are not closed for the event.

The half marathon and 10K have a 4-hour time limit. The event accommodates wheelchairs, strollers, wagons, and leashed pets. Roller blades, skateboards, and motorized devices are not permitted.

Amenities and Awards

All registered participants receive a custom finisher's medal and a Dri-Fit Tech T-shirt or tank top. A pre- and post-race "Runner's Brunch" with items like granola bars, fruit, water, and Gatorade is provided. All events are chip-timed with real-time results and photos available online.

Age group awards for the top three in each division are given for the half marathon, 10K, and 5K (race day participants only). Age groups range from 8 & Under to 80 & Over.

Registration and Fees

The event has a total participant limit of 1500. Registration fees vary by distance and increase as the event date approaches. There is also a virtual run option, though virtual registrations are restricted to US addresses. On race day, registration opens at 6:00 AM with higher fees.

The Cottontail Dash

The Cottontail Dash is limited to 125 participants and will be split into two waves based on age: 6 and under, and 7 and older. Each child receives eggs handed out by volunteers to ensure an equal amount for everyone. Participants can bring their own bag/basket or one will be provided. Parents accompanying children on the course do not need to register.

Charity Partner

Proceeds from the event benefit PLAY, Peoria Inc., a local organization supporting Peoria Community Services programs.
