Pendle Fell Races

Pendle Fell Races are organised from Barley Village Hall, near Burnley (GR 822402, BB12 9JU). The senior race is Category AS and covers 4.5 miles with about 1500 ft of ascent. The event is held under UKA rules and is registered with the Fell Runners Association; runners must carry the FRA Mandatory Minimum Kit and a recommendation on extra kit will be given on the day based on weather.

Entries on the day are available with a different fee for FRA members and non members. Registration takes place at the village hall and car parking is available in the village car park with overflow parking along one side of the road towards Roughlee; participants are asked to park with respect for local residents and to consider car sharing. Race numbers must be visible on the chest and runners who withdraw after number collection must inform registration.

Prizes in the form of Pete Bland Sports vouchers are awarded to the top three male and female finishers and to first male and female in each age category. The route is partially marked and a map is provided. Results are published online after the race. Refreshments and a vendor for kit are normally available at the village hall and nearby car park.

Junior races for U10 to U18 are held on the same day on private farmland. Courses are out and back over track, field and fell with specific turn back points by age. Lambing is occurring on the farmland so dogs are not permitted on start, finish or route areas. Kit requirements apply for most junior age groups and marshals will check kit on the hill. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
