The event is an AS category fell race held under FRA rules with FRA licence 2026-9690. The course is a single lap, hilly fell route of 8 kilometres, with approximately 401 m of climb. Entries, rules and practical information

Entry is limited to 400 runners. Pre-entry fees are £8.00 for affiliated runners and £10.00 for unaffiliated runners; on-the-day entry may be possible depending on capacity and may incur an additional fee. Minimum age is 16 on race day; entrants under 18 who entered online must present a completed FRA parental consent form at registration. The FRA Minimum Kit List is required, including waterproof whole body cover with taped seams and attached hood, hat, gloves and whistle. Use of GPS devices or equivalent for navigation is forbidden and there will be random checks. There is a one-hour cut-off at the Rocky Valley marshal point, around halfway, and runners outside this time will be instructed to retire. Facilities at the event include toilets; there are no water stations, distance markers, changing facilities, showers or baggage store. Junior races are held with no pre-entry.
