Peasantman Steel Distance Triathlon Series : August 15, 2027
Peasantman is a multi-distance triathlon event held at Indian Pines Park in Penn Yan, New York, on the third Sunday of August. The event uses "Steel Distance" formats, where the bike leg is slightly longer than typical triathlon distances. The 2027 edition will host the USA Triathlon Ultra Distance National Championships and has appeared on Triathlete Magazine's list of Best Iron Distance Races in North America.
Race options include a range from sprint races up to ultra distances, with twelve races offered overall, including relays and aquabike formats. Main distance examples:
- Full Steel Triathlon: 2.4 mi swim / 116 mi bike / 26.2 mi run
- Full Steel Aquabike: 2.4 mi swim / 116 mi bike
- Full Steel Duathlon: 6.55 mi run / 116 mi bike / 19.65 mi run
- Half Steel Triathlon: 1.2 mi swim / 58 mi bike / 13.1 mi run
- Intermediate Steel Triathlon: 1 mi swim / 29 mi bike / 6.55 mi run
- Sprint Triathlon: 0.5 mi swim / 14 mi bike / 3.1 mi run
The swim uses a 1.2 mile loop; Full competitors complete two laps and Half competitors complete one. Swim caps are color coded and must be worn except in documented allergy cases; an additional personal cap may be worn underneath. The bike course is a 29 mile loop ridden multiple times for longer distances and travels along both arms of Keuka Lake. The run is an out-and-back largely along the lake shore and is described as flat and simple.
Online registration opens in October and closes the Friday before the race. In-person registration is allowed during Saturday packet pickup only; registration on race day is not permitted. Registering after August 1 may reduce availability of pre-race or finisher materials. Use of headphones and other audio devices is prohibited; cell phones may be carried for safety but must remain off except for emergencies. USAT rules apply. After finishing, athletes are ceremonially knighted by the Queen of the Finger Lakes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
