Mrs. McCormick's Ice House : January 17, 2026

Mrs. McCormick's Ice House is a winter trail race held at Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill. Race headquarters are at Wilson Lodge, with parking available next to the lodge. The event is part of the Common Ground Winter Trail Series, a collaboration between FarFetched Enterprises, Goose Adventure Racing, and Doody Runs. The series includes Frozen Assets, Mrs. McCormick's Ice House, Devil's Shadow, and Go Forth!.

Race format and course

The course is built as a roughly 4-mile loop. Participants may complete:

  • 4 mile
  • 8 mile
  • 12 mile

The course visits many park sections while avoiding the western slope. The race-day course may change because of trail or weather conditions. Organizers note a high probability of snow on the course, advise bringing traction footwear, and state that snowshoes are not permitted.

Logistics, amenities, and policies

Wilson Lodge is heated and has real restrooms. Post-race offerings include pancakes with local maple syrup, hot chai latte, hot chocolate (with a recovery option), warm and cold Skratch Hydration, fresh fruit, and snacks. Park roads and parking will be plowed if needed; the main park road is one-way, counter-clockwise.

Entry is a single price of $30 plus UltraSignup fees. There are no price increases. Distance switching is allowed up to race-day check-in with no fee. Refunds and deferrals are available by specified deadlines; refunds exclude UltraSignup fees. The Race Director may disqualify participants for abusive behavior, littering or trail damage, receiving aid outside designated areas, pacing from non-participants, or course-cutting.
