Paul Mailman 10 Miler and 5K
The Paul Mailman event is an annual running competition held in Montpelier, featuring two distinct distance options:
- 10 Miles
- 5 km
The event takes place at Montpelier High School, where parking is available. Both distances start and finish on the school track. The 10 Mile course follows a classic dirt road route that is flat along the river and includes rolling hills on Jones Brook Road. This distance includes aid stations located near the 5 km turnaround (approximately mile 8.5) and at miles 4.5 and 6. The 5 km course is a flat out-and-back route.
Participation is subject to entry limits, with a maximum of 100 entries for the 10 Miler and 50 entries for the 5K. Registration is conducted online only, and entries are not transferable between the two distances. Please note that strollers and dogs are not permitted in either race.
Awards are presented to the first overall male, female, and non-binary finishers. In the 10 Mile race, awards are also given to the first male, female, and non-binary runners in each ten-year age division. Top finishers in the 10 Miler may also receive subscriptions for a summer trail race series.
The event serves as a fundraiser for Good Samaritan Haven, a nonprofit organization providing emergency assistance to individuals experiencing homelessness in Montpelier and Barre. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
