Parkinson's Beat It 5K
The Parkinson's Beat It 5K is an athletic event held at The Pointe at Barclay in Wilmington, North Carolina. The event proceeds benefit Beat Parkinson’s Today, a national nonprofit organization that provides exercise programs, community support, and wellness services for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease.
Participants may choose between two distances:
- 5K (3.1 miles): A timed event where participants have the option to run or walk.
- 1 Mile: An untimed event where participants have the option to run or walk.
The race starts and finishes at Brunches at The Pointe at Barclay. The 5K event utilizes timing equipment to track participant results, while the 1-mile event is focused on participation without recorded times.
Registration for the event includes a 25% discount coupon for local dining at Brunches at The Pointe. Registration remains open online until 15 minutes before the start of the race. The event is open to runners, walkers, and supporters of the Parkinson’s community.
Beat Parkinson's Today offers exercise classes specifically designed for people with Parkinson’s, available both in person and online. This event serves to support the growth of these programs and highlight the role of physical activity in managing the disease. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
