Dashing Thru The Glow takes place on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Live Oak Bank Pavilion, 10 Cowan Street, Wilmington, NC 28401. The event is presented with AvanceCare as the title sponsor. Two distances are offered:
- 5K - timed event
- 1 Mile - not timed
Course, extras, awards and causes
The course runs through downtown Wilmington and features holiday light displays and views of the Cape Fear River. Parts of the course are a little dark, so participants are encouraged to bring a headlamp. Both the 5K and the 1 Mile may be run or walked. Event items include a race shirt (while supplies last; shirt deadline Nov. 12), a finisher medal for finishers, a light-up holiday beanie for all, holiday hats for the first 800 at pre-race packet pickup, cookies, a glow necklace, and free pictures with Santa.
Awards for the 5K include top three males and females overall and top three males and females in age groups (10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+). The 1 Mile awards the top boy and top girl (12 and under). A costume contest for most Christmas spirit will be judged by audience applause. The event raises funds for the Coastal Horizons Open House Youth Shelter and supports Toys for Tots; donating a new unwrapped toy qualifies for a $5 registration discount.
