Parkie’s 5K
Parkie’s 5K is an annual community event held at the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Complex in Illinois. The event features a flat and fast course through the local neighborhood. Participation is open to individuals who wish to run, walk, roll, or push a stroller.
The event offers two main athletic distances:
- 5 km running race
- 1 mile family fun walk
The 5 km race is a timed event where all participants receive a finisher's medal. Award medals are presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three male and female finishers in various age categories ranging from 10 and under to 75 and older.
The 1 mile family fun walk is untimed and open to participants aged 4 years and older. Stroller riders can join the walk at no cost, though they do not receive event shirts or medals. Registered participants in both the 5 km and the 1 mile walk who complete their registration by August 1st are guaranteed a t-shirt in their preferred size.
Following the races, a pancake breakfast is hosted by the local Boys Troop 75b at the First Presbyterian Church in Bolingbrook. Race packets and welcome letters are available for pickup at the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Complex in the days leading up to the event.
