About the race
The Palo Alto Weekly Moonlight Run & Walk is a benefit event presented by the City of Palo Alto that supports local nonprofits serving children and families and local independent journalism. The event’s 42nd anniversary takes place under the full moon on September 25, 2026, at the Palo Alto Baylands.
The event is family-friendly and offers multiple distance options:
- 5K Walk
- 5K Run
- 10K Run
The half marathon will not be held in 2026 due to construction along the route and is planned to return in 2027. The 10K course has been updated for 2026. A merch booth will offer posters, t-shirts, tote bags, stickers, and memberships to Palo Alto Online and other publications; all proceeds support local journalism. Note that no cash is accepted on site; payment is by card or mobile payment.
