Palo Alto Weekly Moonlight Run & Walk
The Palo Alto Weekly Moonlight Run & Walk is a benefit event supporting local nonprofits and independent journalism. The event offers multiple participation options, including a 5K walk that is not timed, timed 5K and 10K runs, and a virtual participant option.
Available distances and options:
- 5K Walk (not timed)
- 5K Run (timed)
- 10K Run (timed)
- Virtual participation
Course and on-course services are organized for each distance. Water stops are located at the mid-point of the 5K and at miles 2 and 4.5 on the 10K. Course maps are published on MapMyRun. Medals for first, second and third place in each division are handed out after the races conclude.
Event logistics center on the Baylands Athletic Center in Palo Alto, with check-in, sponsor booths, first aid and food and water on the infield. Limited checking of small personal bags is available. Police and volunteers direct parking to nearby business lots; the Stanford Eye Clinic lot should not be used.
Entries include a race bib and, for registrations completed before September 22nd and while supplies last, a long sleeve Moonlight Run shirt available at check-in. There are no refunds. Registrations may be transferred to another person by the stated deadline. Distance changes are permitted through the stated adjustment deadline; after that, adjustments must be handled at the Problems and Solutions / Information tent on race night.
Headlamps are highly recommended. Dogs are allowed on the 5K walk only and must not be on retractable leashes. Jogging strollers are welcome on the 5K walk or at the back of the runs. No cash is accepted on site. A merch booth will sell posters, t-shirts, tote bags and memberships, with proceeds supporting local journalism.
