Belmont Water Dog Run
The Belmont Water Dog Run is an annual community event held on September 26, 2026. It offers four different race options: a 5k, a 10k, a 1 mile run for kids, and a 1 mile run for dogs (Fido Run). All events start at Twin Pines Park in Belmont.
The 5k course is an out-and-back route with a turnaround point just past the Carlmont Shopping Center. The 10k shares the same start and finish sections as the 5k but adds an extra loop, taking runners on the Lake Trail in Belmont Waterdog Park. The event includes a pancake breakfast for all registrants and volunteers, provided by a local sponsor.
Now in its eighth year, the event is organized with support from sponsors, city partners, and local volunteers. Over a dozen high school students from Carlmont High School participate in an intern program to help organize the race, contributing to design, marketing, and logistics. The run operates as a non-profit and has provided grants totaling over $55,000 to support youth programs in the community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
