Dick Collins Firetrails
Dick Collins Firetrails is a trail running event held in Castro Valley, California, at Lake Chabot Regional Park. The event comprises multiple races on park firetrails and singletrack, with course variations this year that return the 50-mile race to its original route and extend the 100k toward Rancho Laguna. The 30k race is not offered this year.
- Bay Ridge 100k
- Firetrails 50 Miler
- Golden Hills Marathon
Course notes specify a return to the original 50-mile course with a fast out-and-back to Lone Oak and only minor changes from the classic route. The 100k follows much of the original course and continues to Rancho Laguna. Athlete guides with aid station placement, crew access details, and schedules are planned for release in mid-February.
The races are UTMB Index events. The Firetrails 50 is part of the Pacific USATF Grand Prix. Time limits are stated for each distance and are enforced; cutoffs are firm because of permits and the East Bay Regional Parks curfew.
Finisher items vary by distance. Bay Ridge 100k finishers receive a rhino belt buckle plus common finish items; other finishers receive a shirt, finisher's hoodie, a wine glass, custom bib, a finisher woodallion, and race photos. Age group awards are given by 10-year categories. Refunds are generally not offered; outside 30 days entries may be deferred and inside 30 days deferrals may be granted for volunteering.
