About the race
The Dick Collins Firetrails is an ultramarathon event held in late September at Lake Chabot in Castro Valley, California. It includes three race distances: a 100k, a 50-mile, and a marathon (Golden Hills Marathon). The event is part of the UTMB Index and the 50-mile race is part of the Pacific USATF Grand Prix. The course uses trails in the East Bay Regional Parks.
Aid stations are accessible to crews unless specified as "No Crew". Pacers are allowed for the 100k and 50-mile races but must register in advance. Hiking poles are permitted. Finishers of each race receive a shirt, a finisher’s hoodie, a wine glass, a custom bib, a finisher's "woodallion," and race pictures.
100k finishers also receive a belt buckle. Age group awards are given to top finishers by 10-year categories. Packet pickup is available before the race and on race day. Parking at the venue costs $5.
The event uses Skratch sports drink and Gu gels. Volunteers who serve more than six hours can receive a free entry to a future event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
