Pagan Midwinter Marathon and Half Marathon
PAGAN Trails is based in Chagford in the north eastern corner of Dartmoor. The event takes place in midwinter and features two off road distances that visit stone circles and other pagan sites in this part of north Dartmoor.
The event offers the following distances:
- Marathon - over 28 miles, more than 1500 m ascent.
- Half Marathon - well over 14 miles, almost 700 m ascent.
The routes are set on moorland and valley terrain around Chagford and include sections of upland tracks and historic sites. The organiser describes the courses as a significant test because of the length, terrain and recorded ascent figures. The event is scheduled for January 2027 and is associated with the PAGAN Trails series based in the Upper Teign and Bovey river valleys.
Entry information published by the organiser includes a minimum age of 17 on the event date, an entry opening date of 6 February 2026 and a closing date of 20 January 2027.
