Event Details
The event is a professionally guided and supported three-day journey along the Paddy Buckley Round, which is described as the "Welsh Classical Round". The route covers all the major mountain ranges in Northern Snowdonia. It is a loop of just over 100km with approximately 9,000m of ascent and descent, visiting 47 mountain tops.
Groups are small, and participants run up to 40km per day. Each day, the group returns to Capel Curig, where various accommodation options are available. The event is guided by a mountaineering instructor with extensive route knowledge.
Preparation and Support
The organizer recommends that participants prepare by having completed the Welsh 3000s over two days or one of their 50km events as a minimum. The pace is described as a slow run, with walking on hills and technical sections. A second leader provides support on the hill and with a vehicle for all three days, offering the option to shorten a day if required.
The event is considered to be tougher than both the Bob Graham Round in the Lake District and the Ramsey Round in the Scottish Highlands. It covers sections of the Welsh 3000 challenge route and also includes the Moelwyn and Nantle Ridge ranges.
