Event overview
The Paddy Buckley Round is a professionally guided, fully supported 3-day mountain running event based in Capel Curig, North Wales. The route visits Northern Snowdonia mountain ranges, including the Moelwyn and Nantle Ridge, and covers 47 mountain tops on a loop of just over 100 km with approximately 9,000 m of ascent and descent. Participants will run up to 40 km per day and return to Capel Curig each evening.
Logistics and requirements
Groups are small, with a maximum of six places per open event and a guiding ratio not greater than 1:6. Each day includes a support vehicle and a second leader for on-hill assistance and transport. Refuelling opportunities (food and drink) are provided at halfway points each day. Accommodation, daily food and cancellation insurance are not included.
The event is presented as covering sections of the Welsh 3000s and is described as tougher than the Bob Graham and Ramsey Rounds. Organisers recommend prior experience such as completing the Welsh 3000s over two days or completing a 50 km event. Pace is planned as a slow run, with walking on steep or technical sections.
