Paddy Buckley Round
The Paddy Buckley Round is offered as a professionally guided, fully supported three day traverse of the Welsh Classical Round. The route visits major mountain ranges in northern Snowdonia and includes 47 mountain tops on a loop of just over 100 km with approximately 9,000 m of ascent and descent.
The event is run in small groups with daily distances of up to 40 km. Participants return to Capel Curig each day, where a range of accommodation options is available including hotels, hostels and campsites. Guiding is provided by a mountaineering instructor familiar with the route, and a second leader accompanies each day with a support vehicle. Transport is provided out and back each day from the base in Capel Curig.
Pace is described as a slow run, with walking on steep or technical ground. The organisers recommend prior experience such as completing the Welsh 3000s over two days or one of their 50 km events as a minimum preparation. Refuelling opportunities are provided at roughly halfway points each day, and the event maintains a low guide to participant ratio of up to 1:6.
Places are limited because of terrain and supervision requirements. For the listed open event the dates are Tuesday 21 July to Thursday 23 July 2026, with a maximum of six places and a cost of £749.
