Event overview

The Paddy Buckley Round is a professionally guided, fully supported three-day traverse in Northern Snowdonia based from Capel Curig. The route visits all the major mountain ranges in the area and includes 47 mountain tops on a loop of just over 100 km with approximately 9,000 m of ascent and descent. The scheduled open event runs from Tuesday 21 July to Thursday 23 July 2026. The programme is limited to a maximum of 6 places and the entry fee is £749; an instalment option is available (50% on entry, 50% due by 23/05/26). Entries open 30 July 2025 and close 12 July 2026.

Support, format and requirements

The challenge is run in small groups with guiding at a low ratio (maximum 1:6) by qualified leaders and a mountaineering instructor. A second leader and a support vehicle accompany the group each day. Transport out and back each day is provided from the base in Capel Curig. Daily running is planned up to 40 km, with a slow-run pace and walking on steeper or technical sections. Refuelling opportunities (food and drink) are provided about halfway each day. Accommodation, personal food and cancellation insurance are not included. Organisers advise prior experience such as completing the Welsh 3000s over two days or a 50 km event as preparation. Places are limited because of the terrain and supervision required. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
