Yr Wyddfa Ultra 50 : Snowdon Ultra 50
The Yr Wyddfa Ultra 50 is a 45 mile mountain ultramarathon held in Snowdonia Eryri on Saturday 5 September 2026. The race information lists an elevation figure of 2800 m and a maximum field of 250 places, with an overall cut off of 20 hours. The route follows the Snowdonia Slate Trail past Swallow Falls and climbs into the Glyderau and Snowdon areas, passing Tryfan, the Yr Wyddfa summit, Glyder Fach, Glyder Fawr, Devil’s Kitchen, Llyn Idwal, Llyn Crafnant and Llyn Geirionydd. The event is described as a navigation event and finishers can earn UTMB and ITRA mountain points.
There are five checkpoints on route with refreshments, vegetarian and vegan options, and medical cover at each location. Checkpoint cut off times are strictly enforced and all participants must check in at each checkpoint. Live online GPS tracking and downloadable GPX routes are provided for both high level and low level alternatives.
Entry requires applicants to be at least 20 years old and to have prior ultramarathon and mountain experience; each application is reviewed individually. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and includes items such as a hardcopy map, compass, waterproof clothing, minimum 1 litre water capacity, headtorch, backup light, survival bag and emergency rations.
