Yr Wyddfa Ultra 50 - Snowdon Ultra 50
The Yr Wyddfa Ultra 50 is a mountain ultramarathon held in Snowdonia Eryri, based around Betws-y-Coed on Saturday 5 September 2026. The advertised distance is 45 miles with an overall course ascent stated at approximately 2800 metres and an event entry fee of £119. The field is limited to 250 places and the event applies a 20 hour overall cut off.
Runners follow mountain trails that pass notable features such as Tryfan, the Yr Wyddfa summit, Glyder Fach, Glyder Fawr, Devil’s Kitchen and Llyn Idwal, and later trails beside Llyn Crafnant and Llyn Geirionydd. The route is a navigation event that awards UTMB/ITRA mountain points and offers downloadable GPX files with a low level alternative for severe weather.
There are five checkpoints along the route with refreshments, vegetarian and vegan options, and on site medical or first responder cover. Live online GPS tracking is provided and checkpoints enforce cut off times; failure to check in will result in disqualification. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and includes a hardcopy map, compass, waterproofs, headtorch, backup light, survival bag, minimum 1 litre water, emergency rations and other listed items. Entrants must be at least 20 years old, have prior ultramarathon and mountain experience, and be competent map readers. Pacers and support runners are not permitted.
