Caernarfon Half Marathon
The event is a scenic Half Marathon in Caernarfon that starts and finishes next to Caernarfon castle. The route includes a few small uphill sections and some long fast downhill sections.
Race headquarters is located next to the start and finish by the castle. Race numbers and timing chips are collected at race HQ. Public car parks in the town are recommended for parking; participants are asked not to park next to the start and finish. There will be some road closures on the course but these will not prevent access to the town car parks. Competitors should follow marshal instructions and keep to the left unless told otherwise.
On-course support includes drink stations at approximately every three miles and at the finish; runners who need extra water are advised to carry a bottle. Toilets are provided as portaloos near the start and finish and as public toilets nearby. First aid cover is provided by a professional medical team with stations at the start, finish and on course. Runners are asked to complete medical details on the back of their race number.
Race rules note that each mile must be completed in under 15 minutes or the runner may be eliminated after the third mile. Organisers ask runners to maintain roughly a 12 to 15 minute per mile pace with an overall expected completion window of about 3 to 3.5 hours; slower runners may be directed to use pavements and obey the highway code. Headphones are not allowed except bone conducting types in line with UK Athletics rules. A technical T shirt and a bespoke medal will be available for all finishers. Prizes are awarded for male and female 1st to 3rd overall and first in each age category. Baggage storage is provided but participants should not leave valuables. Merchandise and race day pickup are available at the event. Results will be published later in the day and event photos are available from the race photographer.
