Yr Wyddfa Ultra 100
The Yr Wyddfa Ultra 100 is a 102 miles ultramarathon across Snowdonia Eryri National Park with 5,172 m of ascent and an overall race cut off of 42 hours. The course includes 11 checkpoints with support on route, and places are limited to 150 entrants. The event is run as a self navigation race and features live online GPS tracking via GB Race Tracker. Runners receive a GPS tracker at registration.
Checkpoints provide refreshments including cola, water, tailwind, sandwiches, salted potatoes, fruit and snacks, with vegetarian and vegan options and hot food at indoor venues. A medic, first responder or first aider is available at each checkpoint. Strictly enforced cut off times apply at each checkpoint and failure to check in will result in disqualification. Top finishers receive finisher buckles in gold, silver or bronze tiers.
Entry requires participants to be at least 20 years old, in good health and to have completed a prior organised 50 mile ultramarathon. Competent map and compass navigation in mountainous terrain is required.
Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and is checked randomly. Key items include a hardcopy OS or Harvey map, waterproof coat and trousers, base plate compass, two long sleeve base layers, water container (min 1 litre), charged mobile phone in a waterproof bag, survival bag, headtorch (min 75 lumens), backup light (min 25 lumens), 500 calories of emergency rations, whistle, GPS tracker and warm clothing. Dropbags are permitted to two designated checkpoints and must not exceed 50 litres. Pacers are permitted from the halfway checkpoint and must be self sufficient and carry mandatory kit.
