OUTLAST AUSTIN Night Out Edition
OUTLAST is a six hour trail endurance challenge held in Johnson City, Texas on August 15-16, 2026. The format requires participants to complete a 5K every hour, on the hour. Each lap must be finished within the hour to remain in the event. If a runner finishes early they may rest until the next round. Missing a lap removes the participant from further rounds. Completing all six rounds awards a premium OUTLAST medal and a national leaderboard ranking.
Course terrain is trail based and includes dirt, rocks, roots, and elevation changes. Some sections may include pavement or gravel. Aid is available at the basecamp and loop start with water, basic hydration, and snacks. This is a cupless event so runners should bring their own bottle or hydration system. Headlamps are required for night race participants. Trail shoes, layers, fuel between laps, and a personal hydration system are recommended. Participants may set up a tent or personal aid station.
Recognition is awarded at several milestones: four laps earn a "Grit Earned" patch, five laps earn a "Survivor" patch, and six laps earn the premium OUTLAST medal. All participants receive a premium OUTLAST tee. The first place male and female at this race each receive $1,000. The fastest runner across all OUTLAST 6 hour events is named National Champion and receives $1,000. Registration fee listed for the event is $90.00.
