About the race
The OSS/CIA 50 Mile Night Run is an overnight trail event held within Prince William Forest Park. The route uses two large 25.5 mile loops that run through all corners of the park, so runners do not repeat the same trail sections in daylight. The course is primarily single track with some fire road and several bridge and National Park Service road crossings.
The event offers two distance choices:
- 50 miles via two loops
- 25 miles one-loop option
Cut-off times are strictly enforced: entrants must complete the first loop within about 6.5 hours and the full two-loop course within 14.5 hours. Pacers are permitted beginning on the second loop. Lights and continuous hydration are required for all runners. Aid is provided at a total of eight stations, with fully stocked main aid stations at the start/finish and at Oak Ridge campground, plus two smaller stations at the South Valley Trail and Burma Road intersections with Scenic Drive.
Logistics include a park admittance fee of $20 per car that is included in the race fee, limited parking at the Telegraph Road Pavilion, and on-site camping at Oak Ridge Campground for $30 per night. A 50% refund is available for cancellations made more than one month before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
