Gene Montague Memorial 5K at Occoquan Regional Park
The 2026 Gene Montague Memorial 5K takes place on September 12 at Occoquan Regional Park in Lorton, VA. The event is chip timed and awards a finisher's medal and an event shirt for registrants who secure their entry by August 29.
Points from this race count toward the 5k & Back of the Pack Series and toward the Summer Series. Final results with series points are posted on the organizer's site the Monday after the race; live results are available via Athlinks and a race-day QR code.
Registration is priced at $45 through August 29 and increases to $50 from August 30 through race day. Registrations on or after August 30 and same-day registrants are not guaranteed a race shirt; race-day registration is available and carries the $50 fee.
Proceeds support the Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter's scholarship efforts for local high school students and donations to local health events, including the American Diabetes Association Step Out to Stop Diabetes. Registrations for this race are not tax deductible.
Course maps are available through common route-mapping services. On-course support includes one water station near mile 2 with Gatorade available at some stations. Restrooms are located inside the park. Packet pickup is available at the event and organizers recommend arriving about one hour before the race to check in. Post-race awards recognize the top three men and top three women overall. Photos taken by staff are posted after the event and a social media challenge is run to select a favorite race photo.
