O'side Turkey Trot
The O'side Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning running event in Oceanside, California. The event includes a scenic beachside course that starts on Coast Highway and finishes behind the amphitheater on the strand, with flat stretches, water views and ocean breezes. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Thursday, November 26, 2026.
Distances offered include:
- 5K - scenic beachside route with flat stretches and ocean views
- Kids 1 Mile - race for ages 7 to 12
- Kids 1/5 Mile - race for ages 6 and under
- Double Dip 5K - complete both 5K waves for a bonus medal
Registered participants receive a custom shirt, a finisher medal, free race photos, chip timing and live results. Age group awards are given in Local and Open divisions across standard age categories. A prize purse of $3,000 is available with awards for top finishers plus bonuses for the fastest local and for a new course record; prize money requires participation in the main 5K wave.
The event features a team competition with gift certificates for the largest teams, a costume contest with restaurant gift card prizes, and a race-day health and fitness expo. The O'side Turkey Trot partners with local charities, with the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank as the primary nonprofit and a portion of registration fees directed to selected beneficiaries. Parking is free in city lots on Thanksgiving morning until 11:00am and a complimentary parking shuttle is provided from designated lots.
