O'side Turkey Trot event overview
The O'side Turkey Trot is an annual Thanksgiving running event held in Oceanside, California. The 20th edition takes place on Thursday, November 26, 2026, on a scenic beachside course that begins on Coast Highway and finishes behind the amphitheater on the strand. The course features flat stretches with water views and ocean breezes.
The program includes multiple race options:
- 5K
- Kids 1 Mile
- Kids 1/5 Mile
- Double Dip Challenge (complete both 5K waves for a bonus medal)
Event features include a costume contest, a team competition with prizes for the largest teams, live entertainment on the course, custom finisher medals and shirts for participants, free race photos, chip timing, and live results. Age group awards are presented for local and open divisions across standard age brackets. An announced prize purse allocates $3,000 in cash awards and includes bonuses for the fastest local runners and course records; prize money is limited to participants in the event's main 5K wave.
The event partners with local charities and lists the Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank as its primary nonprofit beneficiary. A portion of registration fees is designated for beneficiary organizations. Packet pick up is available through an expo and on race morning, with an optional paid packet mailing upgrade.
