About the race
The O'side Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning running event in Oceanside, California, centered on a scenic beachside 5K and multiple kids races. The course runs along Coast Highway and finishes near the strand and pier, featuring flat stretches, water views, and ocean breezes. The event offers packet pick-up and an expo the day before and on race day at local venues.

All registered participants receive a custom race t-shirt, a finisher medal, free race photos, chip timing, and live results. Age-group awards are presented for local and open divisions across standard age categories, plus awards for kids’ divisions. The event includes a team competition with gift-card prizes for the largest teams and a costume contest with local restaurant gift-card prizes for top winners.
A prize purse of $3,000 rewards top overall performers, plus bonuses for the fastest local runners and course-record performances; prize eligibility requires participation in the main 5K wave. The Trot supports local charities, with the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank as the primary nonprofit partner and a portion of registration fees designated for selected beneficiaries.
