O'side Turkey Trot
The O'side Turkey Trot is an annual Thanksgiving morning event held in Oceanside, California. The event features a scenic beachside course that starts on Coast Highway at the Civic Center and finishes behind the amphitheater on the strand near the Oceanside Pier. The course is categorized as fast and flat, featuring ocean views and coastal breezes.
Participants can choose from a variety of distances and formats:
- 5 km - available in two separate waves (Early and Main).
- Double Dip 5 km - an option to complete both the early and main waves for an additional medal.
- 1 mile - a race for children aged 7-12.
- 1/5 mile - a race for children aged 6 and under.
Registered participants receive a custom race t-shirt, a finisher medal, chip timing with live results, and access to free digital race photos. The event also hosts a Health and Fitness Expo at the Junior Seau Beach Amphitheater, featuring exhibitors and photo backdrops.
For those interested in competition, the event includes a costume contest and a prize purse for top finishers in the main wave. A team competition recognizes the largest groups with awards. The event serves as a fundraiser, supporting the San Diego Food Bank and various local schools and non-profit organizations.
