O'side Turkey Trot 5K & Kids Run

The O'side Turkey Trot is an annual Thanksgiving running event in Oceanside that includes a 5K and two kids races. The course runs along the beachside strand, starting on Coast Highway and finishing behind the amphitheater, and features flat stretches with water views and ocean breezes.

The event includes multiple participant activities and services: a costume contest, a largest teams competition, live entertainment on the course, finisher medals for all participants, custom race shirts, free race photos, chip timing and live results, and age group awards for local and open categories.

Race distances:

  • 5K road course along the strand and Coast Highway
  • Kids 1 Mile race for older children
  • Kids 1/5 Mile race for younger children

The trot draws participants from many locations across the United States and benefits local organizations. It partners with the Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank and supports schools and nonprofits in North County. Over 20 years the event has raised more than $500,000 for community organizations. The Food Bank is noted as the official nonprofit partner, and a $30 gift during registration is described as providing a full Thanksgiving meal for a local family.

Official sponsors named for the event include Frontwave Credit Union, Frazier Farms Market, and Ace Hardware. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
