Trail Racing in Daley Ranch
The Dixon Lake Trail Race takes place in the Daley Ranch area of Escondido, California. The event is staged at El Caballo Park and utilizes the surrounding trail network for all distances. The courses consist entirely of dirt surfaces, featuring a combination of single track trails and dirt service roads.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 10 Mile
- 10K
- 5K
The terrain is characterized by out-and-back routes with significant hill climbing. The 10 Mile course includes a climb to the summit of Stanley Peak, which provides a 360-degree view of the region. This distance features approximately 1,634 feet of elevation gain. The 10K course involves 985 feet of gain, while the 5K route includes 672 feet of elevation gain.
Event Details
The event has a maximum capacity of 300 runners. Course limits are in place for all distances, with 4 hours allowed for the 10 Mile, 2.5 hours for the 10K, and 2 hours for the 5K. There are no aid stations located on the courses, so participants must be self-sufficient regarding hydration and nutrition.
Primary parking is available at the trailhead parking lots, with secondary overflow parking located approximately a five-minute walk from the start area.
