Ormsary 10K Run
The Ormsary 10K is organised by Ormsary Social Club on the Ormsary Estate near Lochgilphead, Argyll. The event offers participants the option to either run or walk the 10 km route. There are 100 spaces in total, with 80 for runners and 20 for walkers.
The course starts and finishes at Ormsary Hall and runs around a small part of the estate. The opening section follows a public single track tarmac road (B8024) where runners may meet traffic. The route then turns onto a muddy and dirt track with a fairly steep section of about 500 yards, levels out for an extended track of roughly 2.5 miles, returns to tar for a winding downhill and finishes with the final half mile on the B8024. Approximately 40% of the route is on road.
The course will be marshalled, sign posted and will include one water stop around the halfway mark. First aid cover will be provided. Participants are required not to wear headphones so they can hear traffic and marshal instructions; non compliance may result in disqualification. Roads on the route remain open to traffic and vehicles have right of way, so runners are responsible for crossing safely.
Facilities at Ormsary Hall include car parking and toilets. Prizes are planned for first, second and third placed male and female finishers and for the first local. Entry is priced at £27, there are no refunds and race numbers cannot be transferred. Medals and refreshments are provided for participants and supporters may purchase soup and baking for a donation. Results are compiled without chip timing and will be published after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
