Event overview
Old Pueblo Endurance Runs is a trail ultramarathon held in Sonoita, Arizona on March 7, 2026. The event offers two distances:
- 50 miles
- 25 miles
The race is run on trails and forest service roads in the southeastern Santa Rita Mountains. The course starts at the historic Kentucky Camp mining site and follows part of the Arizona Trail. The route includes a 25-mile loop and a revised section that sends runners down Fish Canyon from Melendrez Pass through to the Cave Creek aid station. Runners no longer use the Greaterville trail or the off-trail wilderness bypass.
Course, limits and services
Elevation at the start/finish is 5,142 feet and the course elevation ranges from 4,031 to 6,232 feet, with an average grade of 6%. Time limits are 7 hours for the 25-mile event and 15 hours for the 50-mile event. The event is cupless; each entrant receives a reusable collapsible cup at packet pickup. A post-race cookout is provided.
Entry, awards and policies
Special awards go to the top three male and female finishers in each event. All finishers receive awards. The race offers a 10% discount to Native Americans, active duty military, law enforcement, firefighters and first responders. There are no refunds; up to five entries may be deferred to the following year on a first-come basis. Entrants must be at least 18 years old.
Partnerships and series
The race is part of the Southern Arizona Triple 50 series. The first and second place male and female finishers in the 50-mile event receive entry tickets that bypass the Angeles Crest 100 lottery; separate registration fees still apply.
