Old Dominion
The Old Dominion is a one-day, measured loop ultramarathon of 100 miles held in Fort Valley, Virginia. The course runs through the Massanutten Mountains, the Shenandoah River Valley and Fort Valley, and is based at the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds.
Runners follow a mix of surfaces including pavement, gravel roads, single-track trails, ATV and logging roads, rock sections, stream crossings and mud. The route includes 14 significant climbs and about 14,000 feet of total elevation gain. The course is planned as a fair test of endurance across varied terrain and surfaces.
The event is part of the Grand Slam of Ultrarunning series. There is a 24-hour cutoff to earn the event’s silver buckle and a 28-hour limit to finish. Registration for the 2027 edition opens on November 28, 2026 at 12:00 AM ET. The published date for this edition is June 5, 2027.
