Both in-person runs are conducted like a typical road race with bib numbers, a start/finish line, official timing, and water stations. All race participants receive a T-shirt with a specially designed race logo, a race medal, and a goodie bag with assorted items.
Proceeds support Gateway to Independence, a VA-supported veteran transitional housing program serving people who are homeless for reasons including PTSD, substance abuse, and depression; the program serves over an average of 100 individuals annually. Proceeds also benefit a Holiday Veteran in need program that provides food and clothing for disadvantaged local veterans.
The 5K course passes through Historic Wickford Village, established in 1709 and noted for waterfront streets, galleries, antique shops, cafes, restaurants, churches, colonial homes, and gardens. The village was named 2022 Best Historic Small Town in America by USA Today. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
