About the race
The Aquidneck 10k is an annual road race scheduled for March 21, 2027 on Aquidneck Island in Middletown, Rhode Island. The 2027 event is the ninth edition and directs a portion of registration fees to the Norman Bird Sanctuary to support its mission of bird conservation and habitat protection.
The course runs alongside beach grass and sand dunes, through a wildlife refuge and bird sanctuary, and passes residential and historic church areas, offering coastal and refuge scenery. The event distance is 10k.
Registered participants receive a race shirt, a race bib with timing chip, and a finisher’s medal. Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers. Registered runners pick up bibs and shirts at onsite packet pickup; onsite registration is available on Saturday but not on Sunday when race operations occur. ID is required at pickup and participants may collect items for others with a copy or photo of the other person’s ID.
Event parking is available at the start and finish area at Second Beach in Middletown. Organizers partner with the Norman Bird Sanctuary and seek volunteers to support event operations. The event is held rain or shine but may be delayed or canceled for severe weather by officials working with local public safety; organizers state that no refunds will be issued if the race is canceled for extreme conditions.
