Event overview
The Annual Hangover Classic 5 Miler is scheduled for January 1, 2026 in Bristol, Rhode Island. It is presented as the 40th annual classic-style road race and includes an in-person 5 mile race and a virtual distance challenge called "Virtual Resolution - How far will you go?" The event benefits the Girls Cross Country team at Mt Hope High School.
Course and logistics
The course runs through Colt State Park and along Poppasquash Road, with part of the route on an untreated bike path. Participants should expect possible uneven or slippery conditions on that section and plan footwear and footing accordingly. The race is cupless; participants must provide their own hydration and nutrition. The course will be open for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Bib pick up is available on race morning at the VFW Hall at 850 Hope St in Bristol. Parking is suggested at Guiteras School, on Washington Street, or in downtown Bristol; parking north of Poppasquash on Hope Street is not permitted. Do not use the Sip and Dip or The Beach House parking lots.
Awards include one-of-a-kind trophies for the top two men and top two women overall and first male and female in these categories: Junior (18 and under), Open (19-29), Sub Master (30-39), Master (40-49), Senior (50-59), Veteran (60-69), and Grand Veteran (70+). T-shirts are provided to the first 250 applicants.
Additional notes
A post-race party is planned at The Guild in Warren; each race bib includes a tear-off for one free pint for those of legal drinking age, valid on race day only. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
