MAT Cares 5th Annual 5k
This event is a community 5K held in Middletown, Delaware, with the start and finish at Volunteer Brewing Company, 116 W. Main Street. One hundred percent of the event proceeds will be donated to Our Daily Bread, a local organization that provides free nutritious meals to people in the Middletown, Odessa and Townsend communities.
The course is described as a fast, flat residential neighborhood route that begins and ends at Volunteer Brewing Company. Timing is by chip using the MYLAPS BibTag Timing System and results will be posted online during and after the race. A course map is provided by the organizer.
Race categories include:
- 5K
- Competitive walking 5K - walkers must walk the entire race
- Children 5K (12 years and under)
Amenities listed for participants include tee shirts, post-race refreshments including beer for those 21 and over, and music. Awards are given by gun time for overall and overall masters, and by chip (net) time for other age groups. Age-group awards cover 10-year bands from 13 and under through 80 and over; there are also awards for top walkers.
