Event details
The North East Triathlon takes place on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in North East, Maryland (203 W Walnut Street, 21901). The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT). Organizers offer individual, relay, and aquabike options and open entry to athletes aged 12 and older. The race is part of Kinetic Multisports' series scoring and qualifier program, with tiered rewards for athletes who complete multiple Kinetic events during the season.
Course, format and race inclusions
The swim portion is held in the Chesapeake Bay and uses a time trial swim start, with two athletes started every few seconds; an Elite Box Start is also available for athletes racing up front. The bike uses well paved country roads along Elk Neck State Forest and is described as low traffic, hilly and technical in places with straightaways. The run is a lightly rolling out-and-back course on the shoulder heading south of town.
Distances for offered events include:
- 1.5 km swim, 22.8 mile bike, 10 km run (Olympic triathlon)
- 1.5 km swim, 22.8 mile bike (Olympic aquabike)
- 750 m swim, 11.4 mile bike, 5 km run (Sprint triathlon)
- 750 m swim, 11.4 mile bike (Sprint aquabike)
- Relay options for Olympic and Sprint distances
