NYCRUNS Haunted Island 5K
The event is a 5K run held on Governors Island on October 25, 2026. The course is one full loop around the island and is USATF certified. Entry includes a ferry ride for the runner and guests, race entry, an official race tech shirt, and post-race refreshments including Halloween candy and fresh fruit and bagels.
A Festival Area near the ferry terminal houses bib and shirt pickup, bag check, portable bathrooms, and the start and finish. NYCRUNS uses pace-based start corrals assigned by letter AA to F based on the pace in a runner’s dashboard. Water and electrolyte fluids are available on course and at the finish.
Bag check requires a single clear bag; staff may search bag contents. Photos are provided, with one free download per participant and optional discounted photo packages available at registration. Bib mailing is offered free to active NYCRUNS members when registered at least 20 days before the event and to non-members for an additional fee; bibs not mailed must be picked up race morning using a QR code.
Awards are given to the top three male, female, and non-binary finishers overall by gun time, and to the top three in each age group by net time. Handcycle and wheelchair athletes are advised not to enter due to course turns. Standard no-refunds and no-transfers policies apply and strollers and dogs are not permitted.
