NYCRUNS Haunted Island 5K: Governors Island, New York
The NYCRUNS Haunted Island event is a 5K held on Governors Island on October 25, 2026. Entry includes ferry access for runners and guests, race entry, an official tech shirt, and post-race refreshments that include water, electrolyte fluids, fresh fruit, and a bagel. One complimentary race photo is provided with options to purchase additional photos.
The course is one full loop around Governors Island and is USATF certified. A nearby Festival Area provides bib and shirt pickup on race morning, bag check, portable bathrooms, and space to gather before and after the run. Start corrals are assigned by pace with lettered groups from AA to F.
Bag check requires a single clear bag (18 x 24) and organizers reserve the right to inspect bag contents. Hydration stations are available on course and at the finish. Bibs can be mailed to NYCRUNS members at no cost or mailed to non-members for an additional fee; mailed bibs require registration at least 20 days before the event and a U.S. mailing address. Shirts are not mailed and are typically available for race day pickup only; sizes are not guaranteed.
Results are emailed and posted online. Awards are given to the top three male, female, and non binary finishers overall by gun time and to the top three in each listed age group by net chip time. Due to the course layout, handcycle and wheelchair athletes are not advised to enter. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
