NYCRUNS Haunted Island 5K
The NYCRUNS Haunted Island 5K takes place on October 25, 2026, on Governors Island in New York. The event runs a USATF-certified 5K course that completes one full loop around the island. The race has run annually and this edition is the 15th.
Entry includes a ferry ride for the runner and guests, race entry, an official tech shirt, and post-race refreshments that include water, electrolyte fluids, fresh fruit and a bagel with schmear. One complimentary race photo is provided and additional photos may be purchased. Bib and shirt pickup occur in the Festival Area on race morning; a unique QR code is required for pickup. NYCRUNS members may have bibs mailed if they register at least 20 days before the event and provide a U.S. mailing address. Non-members can add bib mailing for an additional fee.
Event amenities in the Festival Area include bag check (one clear bag required, 18 x 24 inches), portable bathrooms, hydration on course and at the finish, and a nearby start and finish. Start corrals are pace based and assigned by letter (AA through F); corral assignment appears on the bib and participants are expected to be in their corral at least 15 minutes before the start. Handcycle and wheelchair athletes are not advised due to the number of turns on the course.
Results are emailed and posted online. Awards are given to top overall finishers and to age group top three finishers by specified criteria. Standard no-refund, no-transfer policies apply; NYCRUNS members have additional withdrawal options for race credit. Strollers and dogs are not allowed.
